Nicolas Fagoaga was born in 1926 in Lesaka.  He came to the United States in 1951 at the age of 24. He was a sheepherder until 1959. Then, Nicolas moved to Elko where his brother owned the Silver Dollar Hotel. He married there and since then he has been quite active in the Basque community. He believes that the Basque culture has a great future in Elko because of the enthusiasm of the youth.
