   Peter Echeverria

Peter Echeverria was born on June 29, 1918 in Shoshone, Idaho, to Marie Sarrasqueta and John Echeverria.  His mother came to this country from Apotomonasterio, and his father from Lekeitio, Bizkaia.  The family moved to Ely, Nevada, when Peter was seven years old.

Peter had a distinguished thirty-year legal career in Nevada, and served as a national president of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He was a founding member of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association and received the Lifetime Achievement Award in June 1999, recognizing his career as one of the finest trial lawyers in the country. He also served in the Nevada Senate and on the Nevada Gaming Commission.

Mr. Echeverria was proud of his Basque heritage, and was on the organizing committee of the first national Basque festival held in Sparks, Nevada in 1959.
