Juan Braņa was born in Almandoz on April 9, 1959. At age 18 years old, Juan came as a sheepherder and worked for Jean Pierre Etcheberry for 8 years in Idaho. Then he married and moved to Reno, Nevada. He started chopping wood in 1985-86. Juan does much of his exhibitions as an aizkolari at the Basque festivals throughout the American West.
