Anita Anacabe Franzoia

Anita Anacabe Franzoia was born and raised in Elko, Nevada of parents from Bizkaia.  Father Joe, came to Nevada in 1901 and mother Margaret in 1953.  She owns and operates Anacabe's, Elko General Merchandise since 1976.  The business was started in the early 1920's in Northern Nevada and has been in the present location since 1936.  She is a 1977 graduate of Boise State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Business Education with emphasis in Distributive Education and a minor in Spanish, with one year spent on the UNR, BSU program in Oņate, Guipuzkoa.

Anita is a current member of the Euzkaldunak clubs in Elko and Boise as well as the NABO representative for Elko.  Three times she has been president of Elko Euzkaldunak.   She is part-time faculty at Great Basin College in Elko teaching Spanish and Basque and has been a past GBC Foundation member and current Nursing Advisory Board Member.

Anita is married to Michael J. Franzoia, current mayor of Elko, who has also attended the Basque Studies Program in Donostia.  Mother of Teresa, Andrea, Mateo and Kristina.
