Mary Aguirre grew up in Elko, Nevada where her parents operated the Star Hotel between 1936 and 1941.  She says that her years at that hotel were some of the best times of her life.  When her parents bought a ranch and left the hotel, Mary continued to board there until she finished high school.

In 1951 Mary  began to operate the Nevada Hotel.  At that time the Nevada had eleven rooms and most of patrons of the restaurant were boarders there.

Mary talks about her family's history in Nevada, boarding house life and the changes she saw in during the 34 years she was at the Nevada Hotel.
