Pio Achabal was born in 1908 in Jack Creek, Nevada. His parents ran a boarding house there for a while, then moved to another place previously owned by the Thompson family. Pio and his wife also ran a boarding house in Upper Jack Creek.

He moved to Elko in 1959, into the Star Hotel. He elaborates on what it is like living there and the people who made up the local color, as well as the other hotels in Elko.

In this interview Pio tells of his life, including some very interesting stories about local characters in Elko and Jack Creek.
