High School Exchange Program

Patxi Ezkiaga, who lectured at the University of Nevada in March, visited Reno with a group of his students on a cultural exchange program organized jointly through Carmelo Urza’s University Studies Abroad Consortium and Reed High School and the Washoe County School District.

Basque students from La Salle High School visited Reno for more than two weeks. They attended Reed High School (in Sparks, Nevada) and lived with local families. This summer, students from Reed High will spend time in San Sebastián, Spain. A similar high school exchange has been initiated with a school in Pau, France.

Everyone was pleased with the first exchange, and it is hoped that these arrangements will be ongoing. Thus far, seventy students have been involved in this special opportunity to expand cultural horizons, practice language skills, and make new friends.
