Basque Studies Program Newsletter · Issue 46, 1992 Letter from the Lehendakari In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Basque Studies Program, President José Antonio Ardanza Garro wrote a letter of congratulations to Coordinator William Douglass. The text of the letter (in translation) is reproduced here: I know that you are currently working on the University of Reno Onomastics Conference. I also know that 25 years ago you undertook an enormous task on behalf of the Basque language in the organization we know as the Basque Studies Program. Because of that, you well deserve the tribute being paid you by Euskaltzaindia. Therefore, on behalf of all your efforts, please accept warmest congratulations and deepest thanks from me and the Basque Government. May your prodigious work continue from this day forward.
