Position Announcement: 
Basque Studies Program


The University of Nevada, Reno announces a tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Basque Studies Program. Qualifications: a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline within the humanities or social sciences (preferred disciplines include language and literature, anthropology, prehistory, linguistics, history, sociology, and political science). Must have demonstrated record of scholarship, including formulating, conducting and publishing original research regarding Old-World Basque culture or the emigrant Basque diaspora. Fluency in Spanish required: additional fluency in Basque and French preferred. A demonstrated ability to prepare successful grant proposals is desirable.

Responsibilities: teaching undergraduate and graduate level Basque Studies courses in the indicated academic department as determined by his/or specialization; might be requested to teach periodically in studies-abroad courses in the Basque Country of Europe; and framing, conducting, completing, and publishing the results of original Basque-related research. Salary open, depending upon qualifications and experience (minimum $30,753). Twelve-month appointment; TIAA/CREF; 24 days vacation.
