1984 Summer Studies in the Basque Country

The University Studies in the Basque Country Consortium is pleased to announce a program of Summer Studies in the Basque Country. While some of the details have yet to be finalized, the following information is available at this time.

Dates:
Mid-June departure from East Coast
Mid-August return to USA

Academic courses will be offered during the first six weeks. The last two weeks have been left open for independent travel.

Courses:
Old World Basque Culture (3 credits; undergraduate and graduate level)
Basque History (3 credits; undergraduate and graduate level)
Introduction to Basque Language (3 credits; undergraduate)

Credits:
A maximum of six (6) university credits may be taken. Any or all of the courses may be taken on an audit basis.

Excursions:
Excursions in both the French and Spanish Basque countries are planned, and will include visits to sporting events, village festivals and the famed fiestas of San Fermin, most noted for the running of the bulls.

The program offers a unique way to experience the Basque Country while earning university credits. Participants will spend time in the classroom studying Basque language, culture and history and will have the opportunity to visit places of interest and interact with Basque culture on both sides of the Spanish/French border.

Cost:
Approximately $1,970, which includes room and board for six weeks, excursions, tuition, student insurance, folk and sporting events, airfare from the East Coast (special add-on fares will be available to and from point of departure).
