A Correction In the last issue of this Newsletter we announced that Dr. Marge Stevenson completed her M.A. thesis entitled “Food Habits of Northern Nevada Basques.” Actually, this was her Ph.D. (EDD) dissertation. Sorry. National Endowment For The Humanities Grant We are pleased to announce that the National Endowment for the Humanities has just awarded a grant in the amount of $64,275 to the University of Nevada Library for initiation of a cataloguing project. This represents successful culmination of a joint effort between the Basque Studies Program and the Department of Education of the Basque government. During the first phase the Basque government provided fellowships to Ms. Maria Begoña Prado and Ms. Maria Itziar Zaldua to enable them to study cataloguing and librarianship at the Library School of the University of Texas, Austin. During the second phase they will complete a year’s Practicum in cataloguing working with our Basque library collection. Upon their return to the Basque Country, it is anticipated that they will help to institutionalize future cataloguing of Basque publications as they appear. We wish to thank and congratulate Ms. Dorothy Rice of the UNR Library, Ms. Yoshiko Hendricks, project director, and Mr. Harold Morehouse, director of the library for their success in writing the grant proposal. |
