A Promising Program

We are pleased to announce that at the invitation of the Rector Gregorio Monreal and Vice Rector Enrike Knörr of the Basque University that Boise State University and the University of Nevada Reno have formed a consortium to sponsor a year abroad study tour in the Basque Country. Dr. Carmelo Urza now serves as coordinator of the new consortium and is currently making the arrangements in Europe for a program to be held beginning September of 1983 (see article on page 5 in this newsletter for further details). Dr. Urza received his bachelor’s degree from Boise State University and his M.A. in Spanish from the University of Nevada Reno. He subsequently attended the University of Iowa where he received his Ph.D. in Spanish in 1981. Last year he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Urza is eminently qualified for his new duties. He is quite familiar with the Basque Country and spent one year as an instructor on Boise State University’s former year abroad study program held in Oñate, Gipuzkoa. Dr. Urza will be headquartered in an office provided by the Basque Studies Program and will be traveling extensively around the American West during the coming year acquainting students with this unique educational opportunity.
